The CFDA believes that most forward-thinking Connecticut funeral home owners and managers are actively seeking ways to reimagine what employment in our profession can and should look like — and how to better engage employees in that vision.
Building on the momentum of our highly successful in-person Workforce Summit at the Mohonk Mountain House, and our recently completed six-month Certified Funeral Service Employer focused webinar series, the Northeast Funeral Service Partnership (NFSP) together with our Association — is proud to help you take the next step.
The NFSP has once again partnered with Worsham College of Funeral Service to develop a ten-part digital workshop series now aimed at funeral home employees.
The curriculum includes six core sessions and four electives, each designed to give funeral home staff practical takeaways they can immediately apply.
This is the second certification developed by the NFSP, but the first certification specifically aimed at registered intern and licensed funeral director staff members.
Participants will gain valuable insights and practical skills to improve daily work habits to integrate more effectively with others.
Live instruction and real-time feedback ensure that participants can immediately apply what is learned in the worksite.
This newest program includes six core sessions and four electives, each designed to give employees practical takeaways they can at once apply in areas such as:
  • Communicating with Compassion and Confidence
    • Improve listening skills and learn how to communicate both verbally and non-verbally with families and staff in a way that is both kind and clear, ensuring that grieving families and fellow staff members feel heard, supported, and guided with confidence.
  • Presence and Presentation in Public and Private Spaces
    • From the arrangement room to the church pulpit, this course helps polish how you show up, strengthening professional presence by mastering body language, attire, and demeanor so families feel reassured, and the community sees you at your best.
  • Technology in Funeral Service: Tools, Trends, and Trust
    • Whether it is livestreaming, online forms, or the latest apps, discover how to use technology to make families’ lives easier and improve funeral home work flow while understanding the role and boundaries of Artificial Intelligence and the absolute need for client data protection.
  • Modern Technical Proficiency: Preparation and Presentation
    • Sharpen technical skills in body preparation, casketing, and service presentation to meet today’s professional standards with precision and care from prep room details to the final presentation that families will always remember.
  • Building a Culture of Professionalism and Ethics
    • Funeral home employment is about more than just “rules” it is about how we treat each other and the families we serve, creating a culture people are proud to be part of. This class will help you understand how everyday decisions reflect your values, while developing strategies to foster accountability, respect, time management, and integrity across your team.
  • Financial Foundations and Business Insight for Funeral Professionals
    • Gain practical knowledge of budgeting, pricing, and financial planning to strengthen your funeral home’s long-term stability because money talk does not have to be scary. Learn how to make smart choices that keep your employers lights on, the staff supported, and the future secure.
Guided by professional facilitators, participants will focus on the aspects of work that can be improved from within our buildings and within ourselves — strengthening both staff and the profession.
Upon completing the series, each staff member will be recognized as Certified Funeral Service Employees. This certification shows their commitment to professional growth and sets them apart as preferred employees in an increasingly competitive industry.
Key Details:
  • First online seminar: November 5, 2025 (90 minutes, virtual — accessible from office, home, or any device)
